JANUARY 2025 COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

TCIC/TLETS Mobile Access (TCOLE #4800- 8 hrs.)

January 13, 2025

Course Description: This in-person course is designed for users who perform TCIC/NCIC functions. TLETS training covers databases such as driver license, vehicle registration, and Financial Responsibility Verification Program (FRVP). In conjunction with TLETS databases, the training provides law enforcement with the procedural knowledge to query records and access Criminal History Record Information (CHRI). TCIC/TLETS Less Than Full Access  (TCOLE#4801- 16 hrs.)

January 13-14, 2025

Course Description: This course is for operators who perform TCIC/NCIC functions at any level lower than full access. Generally, this pertains to inquiry only. It also covers navigation of the databases that are connected to the TLETS system such as administrative messages, driver license, vehicle registration, and instructions regarding proper procedures for broadcasting in the state and nationwide. This course requires the TCIC/TLETS Operation Manual Parts 1 - 2. Operators must receive this training within the first six months of assignment or employment, regardless of whether these duties are performed on a full-time or part-time basis. In order to comply with federal requirements, operators must recertify within two years of certification or most recent recertification date.

TCIC/TLETS NCIC Full Access Training (TCOLE #4802- 16 hrs.)

January 13-15, 2025

Course Description: This in-person course is designed for users who perform all TCIC/NCIC functions. TLETS training covers databases such as driver license, vehicle registration, Financial Responsibility Verification Program (FRVP), International Justice and Public Safety Network (Nlets), Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), and Interpol. In conjunction with TLETS databases, the training provides law enforcement with the procedural knowledge to query, enter, modify, clear, and cancel records, access Criminal History Record Information (CHRI), confirm hits, and send and receive administrative messages. High Risk Vehicle Engagements (TCOLE #8 hrs.)

January 21, 2025

Course Description: This course will train officers how to tactically conduct high-risk vehicle stops, how to properly conduct vehicle tactical approaches, vehicle positioning, conduct standard stops, conduct angle stops, conduct corner stops, and apply the best tactics, techniques, protocols when engaging in vehicle assault tactics during high risk vehicle situations. This course will train officers on how to properly conduct front, rear, and column assaults on high-risk target vehicles. This course will train officers how to tactically "Get off the X". This course will train officers how to survive an ambush attack and how to fight from the vehicle. Additionally, this course trains officers how to properly use contact and cover tactics, effective tactical communication and subject control tactics. This course trains officers how to use apply medical adjuncts in a direct, and indirect care environment. Equipment required: Agency assigned gear. (i.e., ballistic gear, eye/ear protection, weapon systems, 50 rounds of handgun ammunition. 50 rounds of rifle ammunition. Open to local, county, state, federal and international agencies. This course can be design to each agency needs. This course is taught by Valor Lead Trainer-Ret. Chief Juan Gonzalez & Valor Instructor Cadre. Refer to attached flyer.

Patrol Rifle (TCOLE #3322 16 hrs)

This course covers the application of the patrol rifle as required by TCOLE course # 3322. Topics covered through lecture and application are rifle deployment in a patrol capacity, engaging targets at various distances, vehicles as barricades and conventional and unconventional shooting positions.

Defensive Tactics (TCOLE #1124 24 hrs.)

January 30-31, 2025

Course Description: The TCOLE Defensive Tactics course is designed to provide law enforcement officers with the skills and techniques necessary to effectively protect themselves and others while managing resistant or combative subjects. This course covers a range of physical control techniques, including strikes, joint locks, holds, and ground defense, with an emphasis on minimizing injury to both officers and suspects. Participants will learn how to assess use-of-force options, maintain control in high-stress situations, and de-escalate conflicts when possible. The course also highlights the importance of situational awareness, proper body mechanics, and legal considerations in the application of defensive tactics. Upon completion, officers will be equipped with the practical skills and confidence to respond effectively to a variety of physical confrontations. Contact Asst. First Line Supervisor Course (TCOLE #3701 24 hrs.)

February 10-12, 2024

Course Description: The TCOLE First Line Supervisor course is designed to prepare law enforcement officers for leadership roles at the frontline of policing. This course covers essential supervisory skills, including communication, conflict resolution, decision-making, and team management.

Participants will learn to effectively manage personnel, handle critical incidents, and ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures. Emphasis is placed on ethical leadership, accountability, and fostering positive community relations. Upon completion, officers will be equipped to lead with confidence and professionalism in dynamic law enforcement environments.

Patrol Rifle Instructor (TCOLE #3323 24 hrs)

Course Description: This 32-hour course will train firearm instructors how to effectively instruct principles of rifle marksmanship, rifle nomenclature, rifle operation, rifle deployment, rifle course design and TCOLE qualification mandates. Emphasis will be placed on the most common patrol rifle platforms and employment in a patrol setting. This instructor course encompasses classroom and range time. Prerequisites: Possess a Basic TCOLE Instructor Certificate of Proficiency ' Possess Basic Firearm Instructor Certificate ' Completed Patrol Rifle Course or Equivalent Course ' Able to demonstrate safe weapons handling during courses of fire. JPX Les Lethal User Training (TCOLE #3345 6 hrs.)

February 21, 2025

JPX course is designed to provide law enforcement officers with comprehensive training on the use of the JPX (Jet Protector) pepper gun, a less-lethal force option for self-defense and suspect control. This course covers the operation, safety protocols, and tactical application of the JPX, which utilizes a pressurized stream of OC (oleoresin capsicum) to incapacitate individuals from a distance. Participants will learn proper aiming techniques, deployment strategies, and how to handle the JPX in various field situations, such as crowd control, suspect apprehension, and personal protection. Emphasis is placed on understanding the physiological effects of OC spray, minimizing risks to both officers and subjects, and adhering to legal and departmental guidelines. Upon completion, officers will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to use the JPX safely and effectively as a non-lethal force option. Contraband In Jail (TCOLE #3799 2 hrs)

The TCOLE Contraband in Jails course provides law enforcement officers with the knowledge and skills needed to identify, prevent, and address contraband within correctional facilities. This course covers various types of contraband, including weapons, drugs, and unauthorized items, and explores the methods used by inmates to smuggle such materials. Participants will learn best practices for conducting searches, securing evidence, and using technology to detect contraband. Emphasis is placed on maintaining safety and security in jails while ensuring compliance with legal standards and regulations. Upon completion, officers will be better equipped to mitigate contraband-related risks and enhance the overall safety of detention facilities. Student will receive 2 hours of TCOLE credit once course is completed.

Presidia Less Lethal Chemical Agent Gel (TCOLE#3343 4 hrs)

Presidia Gel CS Spray course is designed to train law enforcement officers in the safe and effective use of Presidia Gel, a non-lethal l chemical agent used for crowd control and suspect restraint. This course covers the principles of deploying the gel, its tactical applications, and safety protocols to ensure proper handling and minimize risks. Participants will learn how to assess when and how to use the gel in various scenarios, including both individual and group encounters. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the chemical composition, potential effects, and legal considerations related to the use of chemical agents.

Manual & Ballistic Breacher Train the Trainer Course 

March 19-21, 2025

This three-day course is designed to train police officers how to properly and safely deploy ballistic shields on patrol, citizen & officer down rescues, special operations, active school threats, low-light ' no-light conditions, use of shield for room entries & room clearing, use of shield for high-risk stops, high-risk warrant entries, use of shield for NFDD & CA deployments, use of shields in conjunction with breaching tools, and special assignments. Officers will be trained on the different types of ballistic shields, nomenclature, individual and team movements. Officers will be trained how to implement speed, surprise & violence of action through force-on-force simulated scenarios. This course encompasses classroom, RBTS, and range training sessions. This VBSIC will be taught by Valor lead trainer ' instructor (Ret) Chief/Regional Swat Commander Juan Gonzalez & Valor Cadre Instructors. Prerequisite: Basic TCOLE Instructor ' Active Law Enforcement Officer. Officers are required to pass a ballistic shield shooting course for certification. Equipment: Handgun and/or Rifle Ballistic Shield ' Weapon Systems ' Duty Gear ' 300 Rounds Handgun ' 200 Rounds Rifle ' Ballistic Gear/ Helmet ' Eye Ear Protection ' 100 NLTA rounds handgun ' 100 NLTA rifle. Blue or Red Training Gun. Appropriate weather gear. Eye and Ear Protection. This is a very physical course. Limited NLTA kits will be available on site.
